If confidence were a draft strategy, the Patriots would have aced it. Davin Vann at the 220th overall pick is 49 spots clear of where he belonged. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

However the rest shakes out, Johnson at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
