Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B-.

For all the boxes ticked, the Commanders skipped the loudest one: tight end is exactly as bare as it was. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

They will need Young to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. However the rest shakes out, Barnes at that price is a win they earned. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Dani Dennis-Sutton
In pick 15 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick77 Rnd3 Zion Young
Value said wait; Zion Young in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick155 Rnd5 Max Iheanachor
No drama and no debate, Max Iheanachor went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 14. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick193 Rnd6 Josh Moten
Josh Moten at the 193rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick206 Rnd6 Makhi Hughes
Makhi Hughes at No. 206 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick215 Rnd6 Trebor Pena
Trebor Pena in pick No. 215 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick232 Rnd7 Khalil Barnes
Khalil Barnes slid further than he should have, and slot 232 is lovely value for the safety. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
