Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB FutureA+
The Bears won the night they stopped Lachey from sliding. Grade: A-.

Call it larceny. Luke Lachey sat on the board until pick 233, and the Bears did not need to be asked twice. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.

For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wilson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at Round 2, Pick 1 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick39 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen in pick No. 39 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick49 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
They barely believed it either: Omarion Hampton still on the board at pick 49. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick81 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in the 81st overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick86 Rnd3 Jordan Burch
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Burch at the 86th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick125 Rnd4 Miles Frazier
They read the board right and Miles Frazier was the payoff at No. 125. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick148 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant at slot 148 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick158 Rnd5 Nick Nash
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nick Nash at the Round 5 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick192 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
Taking Ollie Gordon II in No. 192 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick233 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at pick No. 233 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick240 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
They paid up for Ty Hamilton at pick 240 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
