Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Packers worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Packers should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

The Packers indulged a want in Taylor-Demerson while a need in quarterback and tight end stayed open. On value alone, Melton makes the weekend a net positive. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Every board in the league had Benson lower, and that gap is the story.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick34 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at Round 2, Pick 2 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
Pick58 Rnd2 Javon Bullard
They paid sticker price for Javon Bullard in the 58th overall pick, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick68 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
They read the board right and Kingsley Suamataia was the payoff at No. 68. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick72 Rnd3 Trey Benson
They paid a round early for Trey Benson in the 72nd pick, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton in pick 91 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick97 Rnd3 Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at safety with quarterback and tight end open.
Pick111 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
A want over a need in slot 111: Cole Bishop adds a safety while quarterback and tight end keeps waiting.
Pick115 Rnd4 Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
They took Jarvis Brownlee Jr. at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick126 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
A tidy little value on Tyler Davis in No. 126, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick135 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
They paid up for Justin Eboigbe at the 135th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick169 Rnd5 Dylan Laube
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dylan Laube at pick No. 169. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Harrell. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
Caedan Wallace at slot 219 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick231 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
No drama and no debate, Michael Barrett went about where he belonged in the 231st pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick245 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
Tyler Owens at Round 7, Pick 25 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick255 Rnd7 Solomon Byrd
Solomon Byrd in pick 255 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
