The 49ers won the night they stopped Bassa from sliding. Grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jeffrey Bassa tumbling to the 49ers in Round 7, Pick 14 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They are betting Mays proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
