mescher DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Browns: B. Somebody in the 179th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Tyler Shough, the No. 141 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Every board in the league had Lindenberg lower, and that gap is the story. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In the 2nd overall pick they get an island corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33
Rnd2
Mike Green
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Mike Green. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick67
Rnd3
Tre Harris
Tre Harris in pick 67 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick94
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant at the 94th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick104
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
A premium they did not need to pay, Kyle McCord a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick179
Rnd6
Tyler Shough
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Shough at the 179th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick192
Rnd6
Clay Webb
A straight-up fair deal on Clay Webb at No. 192, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick200
Rnd6
Tahj Brooks
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tahj Brooks. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick216
Rnd6
Cody Lindenberg
Cody Lindenberg in slot 216 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick255
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing LaJohntay Wester in Round 7, Pick 39. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
