Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The Bears robbed the room for Monheim. Final grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bears were there to profit. Jonah Monheim, the No. 148 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 232.

Paige has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kenneth Grant at No. 39 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Booker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick45 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
A quiet steal in the 45th pick: Omarion Hampton for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
The board had cheaper options than Elijah Arroyo at pick No. 72, and it noticed. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jake Majors
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at slot 147 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick193 Rnd6 Cody Simon
The board fumbled Cody Simon all the way to the 193rd overall pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jonah Monheim
Circle this one: Jonah Monheim at Round 7, Pick 16 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick233 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
They jumped the gun on Donovan Edwards, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick240 Rnd7 Makari Paige
Makari Paige at the 240th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
