Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Bears lost the trade table, and the C- tells the story.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bears did exactly that with Reuben Fatheree II in slot 244.

That Hampton pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

So much rides on Mason Graham that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In slot 9 they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
They took Tyler Booker at par in the 36th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick40 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Warren. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick73 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
Somehow Omarion Hampton was still sitting there in pick No. 73, and they pounced on premier running back value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jake Majors
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 137th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jalen Catalon
Jalen Catalon in Round 5, Pick 8 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick151 Rnd5 Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. at the 151st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick202 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
No edge and no loss on Bryce Foster in Round 6, Pick 27; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick228 Rnd7 Giles Jackson
They reached into another round for Giles Jackson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244 Rnd7 Reuben Fatheree II
Value said wait; Reuben Fatheree II in the 244th pick says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
