Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bears to a D.

The Bears spent real capital to be 78 picks early on Reuben Fatheree II, and the board is going to hold them to it. Put together, it is a D.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Skattebo falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In pick 9 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
They took Tyler Booker at par in pick No. 37, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick40 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
No edge and no loss on Tyler Warren in the 40th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick71 Rnd3 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the Round 3 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick108 Rnd4 Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor at Round 4, Pick 7 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick142 Rnd5 Cam Skattebo
A running back of that caliber at the 142nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick200 Rnd6 Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in Round 6, Pick 25 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jaishawn Barham
They barely believed it either: Jaishawn Barham still on the board at the 232nd overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick246 Rnd7 Reuben Fatheree II
Reuben Fatheree II in pick No. 246 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
