Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Tanor Bortolini at No. 122, a reach of 65 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. No fireworks, but a solid B.

Everything downstream of Caleb Williams depends on Caleb Williams, and the building knows it. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
They paid sticker price for Caleb Williams in pick No. 1, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick14 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the 14th pick they get a problem off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
Good price on Darius Robinson in Round 2, Pick 13, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick75 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Michael Hall Jr.. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick122 Rnd4 Tanor Bortolini
A real head-scratcher, Tanor Bortolini in No. 122 is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick192 Rnd6 Drake Nugent
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Drake Nugent well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick235 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
The board had Frank Gore Jr. higher than the Round 7 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
