Draft Grade — Bears

Daniels is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Smith-Wade reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In the 1st pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Pick9
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around. More want than need.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at No. 75 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick122
Rnd4
Ray Davis
Taking Ray Davis in pick 122 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144
Rnd5
Chau Smith-Wade
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Chau Smith-Wade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
