Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA
The Bears let Bowen fall into their laps, and walked away with a D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

The Moore reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

The Bowen steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the 16th overall pick they get a lead back with juice at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick47 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at the 47th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick69 Rnd3 Cayden Green
They went early on Cayden Green in Round 3, Pick 5, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick78 Rnd3 Whit Weeks
The board had cheaper options than Whit Weeks at pick 78, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick117 Rnd4 Derrick Moore
Derrick Moore at slot 117 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick155 Rnd5 Michael Trigg
Good price on Michael Trigg in pick No. 155, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick182 Rnd5 Monroe Mills
Monroe Mills at the 182nd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick198 Rnd6 Cam Calhoun
Fair-plus on Cam Calhoun, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick232 Rnd7 Barion Brown
Barion Brown in the 232nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick254 Rnd7 Peyton Bowen
The board fumbled Peyton Bowen all the way to pick 254, and they scooped it up. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
