Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB+ FutureC+
The Bears checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot is 42 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Jordan Love deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In the 3rd overall pick they get a mismatch in the passing game. Need was not the driver here.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In No. 9 they get a true top target at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in pick 34 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
No edge and no loss on Kamari Lassiter in the 41st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick58 Rnd2 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at slot 58 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Bralen Trice
Nothing to complain about; Bralen Trice went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick102 Rnd4 Renardo Green
Renardo Green at the 102nd pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick109 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braelon Allen. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick121 Rnd4 Christian Jones
A reach for Christian Jones in Round 4, Pick 21; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
