Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bears were there to profit. Tahj Brooks, the No. 118 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 226. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

You do not let a running back like Dylan Sampson reach slot 148 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

Parker Brailsford in Round 6, Pick 28 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.

Tahj Brooks in No. 226 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
