Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA
The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: D.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Andrew Raym; the Bears did not wait, grabbing him 46 spots ahead at slot 158.

So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.

They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, Adams at that price is a win they earned.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In No. 3 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
They paid sticker price for Adonai Mitchell in the 34th overall pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick64 Rnd2 Mekhi Wingo
Mekhi Wingo at pick No. 64 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
No edge and no loss on Mike Sainristil in the 75th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick95 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
They read the board right and Christian Mahogany was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 32. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick104 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
A premium they did not need to pay, Mohamed Kamara a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick111 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Fair-plus on Khyree Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick123 Rnd4 Dillon Johnson
They did well to land Dillon Johnson in No. 123, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Theo Johnson. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick143 Rnd5 Isaiah Adams
Isaiah Adams in Round 5, Pick 7 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick158 Rnd5 Andrew Raym
Andrew Raym at pick No. 158 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
