Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Bears.

There is reaching, and then there is Solomon Tuliaupupu at the 252nd pick. The Bears jumped the board by 55 and dared it to prove them wrong. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

However the rest shakes out, Allar at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In No. 18 they get an every-down engine for the run game, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57 Rnd2 Connor Lew
Connor Lew at pick 57 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick82 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson slid further than he should have, and the 82nd overall pick is lovely value for the linebacker. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick91 Rnd3 Anto Saka
They left a pile of value on the table to take Anto Saka this early at the Round 3 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick127 Rnd4 Tao Johnson
Nothing to complain about; Tao Johnson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick158 Rnd5 Kage Casey
They did well to land Kage Casey in pick No. 158, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick203 Rnd6 Drew Allar
Circle this one: Drew Allar at Round 6, Pick 22 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick225 Rnd7 Fernando Carmona
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Fernando Carmona well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Pick233 Rnd7 Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander in pick 233 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick252 Rnd7 Solomon Tuliaupupu
Solomon Tuliaupupu in slot 252 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
