Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Singleton: B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Nicholas Singleton had no business being available in pick 203, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The cost of the Burch reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Marcus Mbow
This one needs a full-page explanation: Marcus Mbow in slot 36, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick44 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tate Ratledge at pick 44. It fills a real need, too.
Pick73 Rnd3 Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch at Round 3, Pick 9 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick116 Rnd4 Sebastian Castro
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sebastian Castro in No. 116, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick146 Rnd5 Deontae Lawson
Somehow Deontae Lawson was still sitting there in the 146th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick203 Rnd6 Nicholas Singleton
A running back of that caliber at pick No. 203 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick228 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster in the 228th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick244 Rnd7 Brant Kuithe
Brant Kuithe at Round 7, Pick 30 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
