Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Bears found their guy under center in Maye: A-.

The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Drake Maye and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 3rd pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick4 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In pick 4 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick35 Rnd2 Taliese Fuaga
The board had Taliese Fuaga higher than Round 2, Pick 3, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick68 Rnd3 Trey Benson
Trey Benson slid further than he should have, and the 68th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick104 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Matt Goncalves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick132 Rnd4 Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick141 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
They went early on Ty'Ron Hopper in No. 141, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick182 Rnd6 Cam Hart
Fair-plus on Cam Hart, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick225 Rnd7 Omar Speights
Omar Speights in the 225th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
