FutureB-
Larceny in pick No. 100 lands the Bears a D, Neal and all. Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. If Law pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The Neal pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 25th pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick57
Rnd2
Zion Young
Good price on Zion Young in Round 2, Pick 25, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Value with a capital V on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick 81, a genuine coup. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick89
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
They let Domonique Orange come to them and pounced at No. 89. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick94
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Circle this one: Julian Neal at the 100th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick129
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ar'maj Reed-Adams. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick130
Rnd4
Eli Raridon
A tidy little value on Eli Raridon in pick No. 130, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick163
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Nothing to complain about; Aamil Wagner went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jaylon Braxton
They paid sticker price for Jaylon Braxton in No. 239, and that is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick241
Rnd7
Kendrick Law
Kendrick Law at slot 241 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
