Larceny in Round 6, Pick 20 lands the Bengals a B-, Williams and all.

The Bengals spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Miyan Williams, the No. 173 name on the board, in No. 195. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Bengals indulged a want in Lassiter while a need in cornerback, interior defensive lineman and other spots stayed open. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They are betting Rucker proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Xavier Legette
In the 17th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick49 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went defensive back with Kamari Lassiter while clear needs at cornerback, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick81 Rnd3 Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims at pick 81 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117 Rnd4 Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu at the 117th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick154 Rnd5 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick173 Rnd5 Gabriel Murphy
Gabriel Murphy at slot 173 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick195 Rnd6 Miyan Williams
Circle this one: Miyan Williams at No. 195 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick238 Rnd7 Kaimon Rucker
They liked Kaimon Rucker enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 18. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick254 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
They robbed the room for Dwight McGlothern here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
