Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

ValueB-

FutureB-
The Bengals kept it disciplined and banked a B. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bengals reached some 51 spots for Hayden Hatten, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. On value alone, Oladapo makes the weekend a net positive.
The trade work was a quiet net positive.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick61
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie slipping to pick 61 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick80
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at slot 80 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick92
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. at the 92nd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick115
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
Nothing to complain about; Leonard Taylor III went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick129
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
They jumped the gun on Ben Sinnott, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick151
Rnd5
Jaylen Wright
By-the-book stuff, Jaylen Wright at the 151st pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick173
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
Nice patience on Kitan Oladapo, who had no business lasting to pick No. 173. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick196
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at Round 6, Pick 21 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick238
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
A conviction pick on Dwight McGlothern at the Round 7 slot that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick250
Rnd7
Hayden Hatten
A real head-scratcher, Hayden Hatten in the 250th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick254
Rnd7
Carson Steele
Carson Steele in pick 254 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
