The Bengals checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Hayden Hatten at slot 254 is 59 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

However the rest shakes out, Simpson at that price is a win they earned. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
