Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bengals spent slot 254 on Hayden Hatten, a name the board had a full 59 spots lower.

They banked enough surplus on Simpson to cover a lot of smaller sins. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
