The Bengals won the night they stopped Higgins from sliding. Grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jay Higgins at pick No. 191 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

They are betting Alexander proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Bengals indulged a want in Pearce Jr. while a need in tight end, wide receiver and other spots stayed open. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
