Best value of the weekend goes to the Bengals for Briningstool: A-. You could see the war room lean forward. Jake Briningstool at pick No. 189 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In slot 18 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Evan Stewart
They barely believed it either: Evan Stewart still on the board at pick 50. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114
Rnd4
Ashton Gillotte
They will replay Ashton Gillotte at No. 114 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick178
Rnd6
Aubrey Burks
Steal is underselling it; Aubrey Burks at Round 6, Pick 18 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick189
Rnd6
Jake Briningstool
Circle this one: Jake Briningstool at pick No. 189 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
