Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall D-
ValueC NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Seahawks left with their quarterback, and a D- to match.

Nobody had Will Sheppard this high, and it is not close. The Seahawks reached 76 spots to get him at the 234th pick. Put together, it is a D-.

Getting Jackson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. So much rides on Jalen Milroe that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Jalen Milroe
In the 14th overall pick they get the face of the franchise, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
They robbed the room for Jalon Walker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick82 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson in Round 3, Pick 18 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick136 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
Steal is underselling it; Lathan Ransom at slot 136 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick173 Rnd5 Mason Taylor
Taking Mason Taylor in pick 173 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick183 Rnd6 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in the 183rd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick210 Rnd6 DJ Campbell
No edge and no loss on DJ Campbell in the 210th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick234 Rnd7 Will Sheppard
Value said wait; Will Sheppard in Round 7, Pick 20 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick248 Rnd7 Ja'Quinden Jackson
The board fumbled Ja'Quinden Jackson all the way to pick No. 248, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
