Smith should have been long gone. The Lions pounced, and earned a B-.

Somebody in pick No. 178 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Lions sat still while Tykee Smith, the No. 160 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. The veteran additions, Josh Sweat chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
