Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

ValueB

FutureC+
The Vikings let Wilson fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Vikings should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The Wilson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The Jackson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In No. 20 they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick26
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick 26 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
A slide stopped in the 64th overall pick, with T.J. Tampa worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick109
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
A tidy little value on Zak Zinter in the 109th pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick126
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mohamed Kamara. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Brennan Jackson
Brennan Jackson at Round 4, Pick 30 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick156
Rnd5
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in pick 156 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick158
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
Fair-plus on Kitan Oladapo, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick166
Rnd5
Dillon Johnson
Dillon Johnson in the 166th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick172
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
Javion Cohen at pick No. 172 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick179
Rnd6
Khristian Boyd
No drama and no debate, Khristian Boyd went about where he belonged in the 179th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick190
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
A tidy bit of business in slot 190, where Dwight McGlothern graded well above the range. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
