BEST-GM DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns

FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Browns: C+. Nobody had J.J. Weaver this high, and it is not close. The Browns reached 203 spots to get him at pick 179. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Shough. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Their trades came out a wash either way.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jack Sawyer. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick23
Rnd1
Wyatt Milum
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, though they paid up to get him.
Pick33
Rnd2
Will Howard
Will Howard at the 33rd overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick45
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in No. 45 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins is a better player than pick 67 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick80
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
They read the board right and Jayden Higgins was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 16. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick94
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba slid further than he should have, and pick No. 94 is lovely value for the safety. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick124
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Denzel Burke in slot 124. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick159
Rnd5
Clay Webb
Clay Webb in pick 159 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick179
Rnd6
J.J. Weaver
They left a pile of value on the table to take J.J. Weaver this early at Round 6, Pick 3. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick192
Rnd6
Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough in the 192nd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick200
Rnd6
Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at No. 200 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
Pick216
Rnd6
Jordan Hancock
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Hancock in the 216th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
