Andras DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks robbed the room for McCord. Final grade: B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Seahawks watched Kyle McCord slide 51 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If Hawes pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In pick No. 18 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson in No. 50 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick52
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Good price on Xavier Watts in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
They read the board right and Zy Alexander was the payoff at pick 82. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick92
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
The board had Donovan Jackson higher than Round 3, Pick 28, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
Steal is underselling it; Jared Wilson at slot 137 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick172
Rnd5
Kyle McCord
Somehow Kyle McCord was still sitting there in the 172nd pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick175
Rnd5
Logan Brown
They will replay Logan Brown at the 175th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223
Rnd7
Karene Reid
They robbed the room for Karene Reid here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
A reach for Jackson Hawes in slot 234; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
