Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
Grand theft in pick No. 62: the Vikings steal Baugh and grade out a B+.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Vikings were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

They are betting Smith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Baugh pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Julian Sayin
They barely believed it either: Julian Sayin still on the board at the Round 2 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jadan Baugh
They will replay Jadan Baugh at Round 2, Pick 30 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick65 Rnd3 Dashawn Spears
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dashawn Spears at slot 65 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick66 Rnd3 Deuce Alexander
Deuce Alexander at pick 66 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick67 Rnd3 Greg Johnson
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Greg Johnson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick70 Rnd3 Anthony Smith
Anthony Smith at the 70th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick106 Rnd4 Melvin Siani
Melvin Siani at the 106th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick195 Rnd6 Jayden Bellamy
Fair-plus on Jayden Bellamy, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick212 Rnd6 Eli Finley
Eli Finley at No. 212 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick231 Rnd7 Matt Rose
Matt Rose at pick 231 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick257 Rnd7 Jordan Faison
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Jordan Faison graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
