The Bears bet the future on Williams. The board says F. The Bears clearly saw something nobody else did in Derek Wingo, taking him 38 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.
Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. However the rest shakes out, Morgan at that price is a win they earned.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
