The Falcons cashed the board's mistake on Skattebo: D. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Falcons did exactly that with Max Brosmer in the 184th overall pick. Put together, it is a D.
On value alone, Skattebo makes the weekend a net positive. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Landon Jackson
A premium they did not need to pay, Landon Jackson a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jalon Walker at pick 41 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick46
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
Value with a capital V on Derrick Harmon in the 46th overall pick, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick68
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant in No. 68 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81
Rnd3
Colston Loveland
Steal is underselling it; Colston Loveland at the 81st pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick107
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
A tidy bit of business in the 107th overall pick, where Tez Johnson graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick117
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malachi Moore in Round 4, Pick 16, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick184
Rnd6
Max Brosmer
A big swing on Max Brosmer at slot 184, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick238
Rnd7
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at No. 238 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
