Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bills let Baker fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bills were there to profit. Javon Baker, the No. 178 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 197. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Ugwoegbu proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Kamren Kinchens
In the 28th pick they get a ballhawk on the back end, though they paid up to get him.
Pick60 Rnd2 Brenden Rice
They jumped the gun on Brenden Rice, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick100 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khyree Jackson. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick128 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at pick 128 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162 Rnd5 LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson at Round 5, Pick 26 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick165 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick197 Rnd6 Javon Baker
Steal is underselling it; Javon Baker at pick No. 197 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick202 Rnd6 Myles Jones
By-the-book stuff, Myles Jones at the 202nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick206 Rnd6 David Ugwoegbu
A big swing on David Ugwoegbu at the 206th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Pick249 Rnd7 Donell Harris Jr.
Donell Harris Jr. at the 249th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
