Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bills for Torrence: B.

Somebody in pick No. 204 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bills sat still while Ro Torrence, the No. 177 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The Jefferson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In the 29th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
A quiet steal in the 60th pick: Chris Braswell for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
Pick128 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves is a better player than pick 128 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in Round 4, Pick 34 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick144 Rnd5 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at No. 144 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick160 Rnd5 Kalen King
Somehow Kalen King was still sitting there in slot 160, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick163 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
They reached a country mile for Jordan Jefferson at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick189 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper at pick No. 189 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jha'Quan Jackson
Jha'Quan Jackson at pick 200 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick201 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in No. 201 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick204 Rnd6 Ro Torrence
You do not let a cornerback like Ro Torrence reach pick No. 204 and blink. They did not. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick248 Rnd7 Nathan Thomas
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Nathan Thomas in slot 248, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249 Rnd7 Josh Proctor
Good price on Josh Proctor in Round 7, Pick 29, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
