Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
D
ValueB-

FutureB-
The Bills got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bills would have aced it. Joe Milton III at the Round 5 slot is 37 spots clear of where he belonged.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Coleman. On the needs board they went 8 of 9, with linebacker the one that mattered most.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In the 28th pick they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
You do not let a wide receiver like Keon Coleman reach No. 58 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick60
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens in Round 2, Pick 28 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick61
Rnd2
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 61st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in the Round 3 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick91
Rnd3
Cam Hart
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Hart. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick99
Rnd3
Braelon Allen
A reach on Braelon Allen in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122
Rnd4
Marcus Harris
This one needs a full-page explanation: Marcus Harris in the 122nd overall pick, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick129
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
Jamari Thrash in pick 129 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick159
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell at No. 159 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick162
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joe Milton III this early at pick No. 162. It fills a real need, too.
Pick163
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones at the 163rd pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick198
Rnd6
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
No drama and no debate, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint went about where he belonged in slot 198. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell at Round 6, Pick 27 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick206
Rnd6
Nathan Thomas
A straight-up fair deal on Nathan Thomas at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick246
Rnd7
Ryan Cooper Jr.
Nice patience on Ryan Cooper Jr., who had no business lasting to pick No. 246. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
