Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Bills. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bills took Kyle Williams a full 39 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. However the rest shakes out, Tuten at that price is a win they earned.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in slot 30 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick56
Rnd2
Darien Porter
A real head-scratcher, Darien Porter in pick No. 56 is miles ahead of his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick62
Rnd2
Darius Alexander
A big swing on Darius Alexander at Round 2, Pick 30, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick109
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
They took Joshua Farmer at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132
Rnd4
Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams at pick 132 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick169
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
Value with a capital V on Bhayshul Tuten in No. 169, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick170
Rnd5
Tommi Hill
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Tommi Hill graded well above the range. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick173
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
A clean, defensible pick in Round 5, Pick 35 with a little surplus value in Chase Lundt. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick177
Rnd6
Ben Sauls
A quiet steal in the 177th pick: Ben Sauls for less than the market said. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
