FutureC
The phones sank the Bills this weekend: D. The Bills spent real capital to be 71 picks early on Austin Reed, and the board is going to hold them to it. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. Pritchett falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In pick No. 28 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Circle this one: Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick 49 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick60
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice at Round 2, Pick 28 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick83
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
No drama and no debate, Jaden Hicks went about where he belonged in slot 83. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick99
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the 99th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick112
Rnd4
DeWayne Carter
They let DeWayne Carter come to them and pounced at the 112th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick128
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
The board had Blake Fisher higher than the Round 4 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick144
Rnd5
Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing in pick 144 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick160
Rnd5
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at slot 160 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick189
Rnd6
Nehemiah Pritchett
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Nehemiah Pritchett in No. 189, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick191
Rnd6
Kimani Vidal
They talked themselves into Kimani Vidal at Round 6, Pick 16, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Pick203
Rnd6
Austin Reed
Austin Reed at pick No. 203 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
