FutureD-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bills for Logan Jr.: F. The Bills lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Logan Jr..
They are betting Thomas Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left offensive lineman open, and the grade is the bill.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at the 19th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick28
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
In slot 28 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44
Rnd2
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in No. 44 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick66
Rnd3
T'Vondre Sweat
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 2: T'Vondre Sweat for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick99
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Roman Wilson worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick129
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in pick No. 129 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick137
Rnd5
Tyrice Knight
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 1 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick159
Rnd5
Nehemiah Pritchett
They read the board right and Nehemiah Pritchett was the payoff at pick 159. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jaylin Simpson in pick No. 162. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick197
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
The board had Michael Barrett higher than the Round 6 slot, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick202
Rnd6
Javon Baker
Javon Baker at No. 202 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jawhar Jordan
A straight-up fair deal on Jawhar Jordan at slot 206, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick246
Rnd7
Kenny Logan Jr.
Kenny Logan Jr. in the 246th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
