Nobody dealt better than the Bills this weekend: B. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bills spent the 164th pick on Garret Greenfield, a name the board had a full 53 spots lower. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 31st pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
Marshawn Kneeland
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Marshawn Kneeland well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick94
Rnd3
Josh Newton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Josh Newton. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick128
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in Round 4, Pick 28 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134
Rnd4
Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo in No. 134 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick144
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith at pick 144 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick160
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
Value said wait; Khristian Boyd in the 160th overall pick says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick164
Rnd5
Garret Greenfield
They left a pile of value on the table to take Garret Greenfield this early at pick 164. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick176
Rnd6
M.J. Devonshire
M.J. Devonshire at No. 176 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick200
Rnd6
Caedan Wallace
They jumped the gun on Caedan Wallace, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick204
Rnd6
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at pick No. 204. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248
Rnd7
Edefuan Ulofoshio
The board had Edefuan Ulofoshio higher than slot 248, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
