FutureC
The Bills lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Kimani Vidal in slot 189, a good 64 spots before the room expected him.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will answer for taking cornerback early while quarterback and tight end went begging.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Jackson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In the 28th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske in No. 44 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick60
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
By-the-book stuff, Bralen Trice at pick 60 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick83
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick99
Rnd3
Javon Baker
A quiet steal in pick No. 99: Javon Baker for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick112
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
No edge and no loss on Blake Fisher in slot 112; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Khyree Jackson adds a cornerback and leaves quarterback and tight end untouched.
Pick144
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick in slot 144 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick154
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau at Round 5, Pick 18 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
They left a pile of value on the table to take Khristian Boyd this early at pick 160. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick163
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
Fair-plus on Tykee Smith, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick189
Rnd6
Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal at the 189th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
