They have staked the next five years on Garrett Nussmeier, which is the only story that really matters here. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The cost of the Williams reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Getting Hughes where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
