The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. The bottom line is a respectable B.

If Rice pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. With edge rusher, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on OLB-EDGE is the choice that costs them.

The Murphy II pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
