Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA- FutureF
The Raiders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a C+.

The Raiders did not so much draft Brandon Coleman as overpay for him, 65 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.

Everything downstream of Drake Maye depends on Drake Maye, and the building knows it. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Hit on Drake Maye and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Drake Maye
They paid sticker price for Drake Maye in the 6th overall pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick58 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in slot 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick89 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at Round 3, Pick 26 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick113 Rnd4 Brandon Coleman
Brandon Coleman at pick 113 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick127 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
They paid a round early for Luke McCaffrey in pick No. 127, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick147 Rnd5 Frank Gore Jr.
Value said wait; Frank Gore Jr. in the Round 5 slot says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick181 Rnd6 Omar Speights
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Omar Speights well ahead of where he belonged. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
