Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-

More right than wrong for the Steelers, and a B- to prove it.

The needs board said one thing and the Steelers did another, using No. 51 on Zach Frazier while interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots waited. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Rice has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a cornerstone up front. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A want over a need in the 51st overall pick: Zach Frazier adds an offensive lineman while interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick84 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A conviction pick on Brenden Rice at No. 84 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick98 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at pick 98 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick119 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in Round 4, Pick 19, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick178 Rnd6 Jordan Travis
A tidy little value on Jordan Travis in the 178th pick, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick195 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs at slot 195 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
