Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedC+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Steelers: B-.

The Steelers went off the board in a big way for Ty'Ron Hopper, 36 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: safety settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 JC Latham
In pick 20 they get a building block for the line at fair value. More want than need.
Pick52 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Zach Frazier adds an offensive lineman and leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick84 Rnd3 Maason Smith
A curious use of the 84th pick. Quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a DT-EDGE in Maason Smith did not.
Pick120 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
A straight-up fair deal on Kris Abrams-Draine at slot 120, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick121 Rnd4 Ty'Ron Hopper
They reached into another round for Ty'Ron Hopper, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick198 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick238 Rnd7 Isaiah Neyor
Fair-plus on Isaiah Neyor, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
