The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Clark: B-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how De'Corian Clark got past him. The Steelers do not have to explain a thing at the 238th overall pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In No. 20 they get protection for the quarterback. Need was not the driver here.
Pick52 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Zach Frazier adds an offensive lineman and leaves quarterback, edge rusher and other spots untouched.
Pick84 Rnd3 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske in the 84th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick120 Rnd4 Max Melton
A slide stopped in pick 120, with Max Melton worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick121 Rnd4 Tyrice Knight
Tyrice Knight at slot 121 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick198 Rnd6 Omar Brown
Omar Brown at pick No. 198 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick238 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark at the Round 7 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
