FutureD-
The Seahawks bet the future on Nix. The board says F. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Seahawks did exactly that with Jeremy Moussa in pick No. 236. A F, plain and simple.
Bo Nix is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. They banked enough surplus on Mahogany to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with running back still staring back at them.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In pick 7 they get a security blanket over the middle at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick16
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 16th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick18
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In No. 18 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
A tidy little value on Jordan Morgan in slot 33, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick35
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
They liked Ja'Tavion Sanders enough to skip the value, taking him in the 35th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick59
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick65
Rnd3
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in slot 65 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick80
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at the 80th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick81
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Marshawn Kneeland well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick106
Rnd4
Christian Mahogany
They will replay Christian Mahogany at the 106th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick115
Rnd4
Javon Foster
They jumped the gun on Javon Foster, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick118
Rnd4
Junior Colson
Nothing to complain about; Junior Colson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick144
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
The board had cheaper options than Ainias Smith at No. 144, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick154
Rnd5
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at Round 5, Pick 18 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick194
Rnd6
J.J. Weaver
J.J. Weaver in slot 194 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick236
Rnd7
Jeremy Moussa
Jeremy Moussa at the 236th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
