FutureB-
The Steelers worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Steelers should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
Reaching for Farmer left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The Steelers paired the rookies with proven help, Jameson Williams leading the way. On value alone, Emmanwori makes the weekend a net positive.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In No. 30 they get an enforcer at safety, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TreVeyon Henderson in pick 62. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick87
Rnd3
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer in the 87th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
A tidy little value on Kyle McCord in slot 123, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick156
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
The board had cheaper options than Ty Robinson at Round 5, Pick 18, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick185
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 185th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick229
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
They paid sticker price for Bilhal Kone in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
