Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB+ FutureA+
Nothing loud, just a tidy B+ for the Steelers.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Steelers started one anyway for Gabe Hall, 58 picks ahead of schedule. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

The Brown pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Barton pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, running back and other spots still on the board.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick52 Rnd2 Kiran Amegadjie
No drama and no debate, Kiran Amegadjie went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick59 Rnd2 Graham Barton
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Graham Barton at offensive lineman with quarterback, running back and other spots open.
Pick84 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Sedrick Van Pran while clear needs at quarterback, running back and other spots sat open.
Pick87 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at pick 87 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick120 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Darius Robinson at slot 120 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick121 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine in pick No. 121 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick128 Rnd4 Javon Foster
A curious use of Round 4, Pick 28. Quarterback, running back and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Javon Foster did not.
Pick134 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe slipping to the 134th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick160 Rnd5 Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall in pick 160 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick167 Rnd5 Edefuan Ulofoshio
They did well to land Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick No. 167, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick198 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Michael Barrett in the Round 6 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick238 Rnd7 Omar Brown
You do not let a safety like Omar Brown reach No. 238 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
